There was a point in gaming’s short history where everyone thought including me, that Nintendo was falling. The new WII U came out in 2012 after the very successful ‘WII’ and showed promise.
However, a poor line up of games and outdated graphics, compared to the upcoming release of the PS4 and Xbox One in 2014, left the console on the shelves to collect dust.
Despite these mishaps, Nintendo has regained there footing and produced a system which is probably in my opinion the greatest ever made. Not just because of it’s innovation but because of it’s 2017 titles thus far, which have been nothing short of phenomenal.
Handheld Gaming Taken To The Next Level – Features
Upon opening the console you will discover:
- The Nintendo Switch Console
- A Nintendo Switch Docking Station
- Left and Right Joy-Con Controllers
- A HDMI Cord
- Joy-Con Wrist Straps
- A/C Adapter
The Nintendo Switch is innovative in the sense that it provides ‘on the go’ or ‘stay at home’ entertainment. The best part is the quality of entertainment stays the same but also changes the users experience.
This is all attributed to the Switches Tablet design, which contains all the processing power needed to run high end gaming. Either through the TV, Tablet or Handheld.
These three modes change the way I am able to game, building immensely on the lack luster WII U design.
- TV Mode – allows you to connect your Switch console to the docking station and play in HD resolution on your TV via the HDMI cord. (The Joy-Cons turn into a two handed controller).
- Tablet Mode – enables me to take my tablet ‘on the go’ and play multiplayer split screen games with my friends by flipping out the tablets stand and using either the left or right Joy-Con controller.
- Handheld Mode – I never knew this existed until I was on the train one day. I looked over and saw a girl who was in the opposing seat, holding a small Samsung looking tablet with the two Joy-Cons adjusted on either size. On the screen was Link from ‘Zelda Breathe Of The Wilds’ and I was blown away guy’s, never before have I seen anything so beautiful looking and jaw-dropping on a Handheld device, it looked ‘Breathe-Taking’…
- Handheld mode also utilizes the tablets touch screen in games.

I find the switch very light and easy to handle at ’88 pounds’, which helps to enhance my experience wherever I go, there are also no cords which get in the way. The blue and red Joy-Cons are also very sufficient but can take some time getting used to.
Power To Burn – Switch Specs

Raining 10s – Games
It goes without saying that the features aren’t the only thing which make an excellent console, it’s the games…
Nintendo has had one of the there best years in a long time, with two outstanding 10/10 console exclusives. They are the previously mentioned ‘Zelda Breathe Of The Wilds’ and ‘Super Mario Odyssey’.
If you are a fan of these two franchises, then get ready to revisit your childhood because what they offer is innovation at the next level. From scouring a massive open-world in Zelda, to discovering the origins of Mario as he takes on multiple locations, it provides that nostalgic feeling which got me excited about gaming again.
I will leave game play down below for you guys to enjoy:)

I don’t think I’ve ever had nothing negative to say about a console. Its hard with the Switch because everything it offers is balanced and provides perfect value.
There’s nothing else for me to say except… I highly recommend this console to anyone who was a fan of the Nintendo 64 and everyone else who is into gaming. The Switch is age-friendly and can be enjoyed by all of your family and friends. Plus there games don’t contain microtransactions. Its a perfect gift idea for anyone into gaming and provides priceless amounts of joy and memories.
Therefore, my final cheap verdict is my first 10/10.
